Our club hosts dragon boat introduction session regularly on Saturdays at the Community Boat Hub in Docklands Melbourne throughout the year.
During the session, we will go through some safety protocols and basic techniques of paddling on land and in the boat, and get you ready to paddle with us. Once you complete the introduction session, you can also join us on our regular weekday training sessions and paddle for free for up to 30 days (with a valid Dragon Pass – free to register).
Visit our Meetup group page to view all the upcoming events – https://www.meetup.com/southern-storm-paddling-club-dragon-boat/
To attend a Come and Try session, just register for a free Dragon Pass. This will let you paddle with us during Come and Try or regular training sessions for 1 month, after which you will need to become a club member to continue paddling with us.
The minimum age is 10 (persons under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian).
Sports or comfortable clothing (that you are not afraid to get wet), a drink bottle, and a change of clothes for after.
We will provide the boat, the paddles and the PFDs (personal flotation device).
Change rooms and shower facilities available on site. Lockers in the change room require a $2 coin (returnable).
This is a free event. You can try up to 1 month with us with a Dragon Pass to decide whether this sport is for you, after which you will require a club membership to continue.
